Timeline
- Birth of Vandesdelca Musto Fende, son of Lord Fende and Farmyriarica Satis Fende.
- Birth of Gailardia Galan Gardios, son of Count Zygmunt Bazan Gardios and Eugenie Cecille-Gardios, brother of Marybelle Radan Gardios, on Loreleiday, Efreet-Decan 41.
- Beginning of the Hod War (a.k.a. the Third War of the Borders) on Loreleiday, Efreet-Decan 41.
- Using the skirmishes around the border as an excuse, Field Marshal Fabre from Kimlasca invades Hod and gains control over it. The same day, Hod begins its collapse and soon vanishes beneath the sea. This is the trigger that leads to a full-blown war, which ends half a year later by order of Fon Master Evenos.
- Death of Farmyriarica Satis Fende, mother of Vandesdelca Musto Fende and Mystearica Aura Fende, on Efreetday, Lorelei-Decan 1 in the Qliphoth, while giving birth.
- Birth of Mystearica Aura Fende, daughter of Lord Fende and Farmyriarica Satis Fende, sister of Vandesdelca Musto Fende, on Efreetday, Lorelei-Decan 1 in the Qliphoth.
- Vandesdelca and Mystearica are adopted by Theodoro Grants, taking the names Van and Tear Grants respectively.
- Gailardia and his servant Peregynt 'Pere' Sadan Naimach escape the island before it sinks and go live in St.Binah with a friend of Pere's.
- Gailardia develops an unexplainable aversion to physical proximity with girls and women.
- At fifteen, Van enters the Order of Lorelei's military academy.
- In that first year, he renews contact with Peregynt through a mutual acquaintance, and finds out Gailardia is alive. Gailardia changes his name to the more Kimlascan-sounding 'Guy Cecil' and he and Pere join Van in Daath.
- Van enlists the cantors at Daath to help Gailardia with his fear of women, potentially damaging to a military career. Caught early, the phobia retreats quickly.
- At ten, Gailardia enters the military academy at Daath. Pere and Van tutor him in the sword, Albert and Sigmund-style respectively.
- Van begins the replica project.
- Van becomes the replica Luke fon Fabre's sword instructor. He vouches for Gailardia and Pere to be hired as servants in the Fabre manor, as sleeper moles. Gailardia's military instruction is put on hold, but he continues to get sword lessons by Pere and sometimes Van, together with Luke.
- Gailardia helps Van kidnap Luke fon Fabre not only by giving him the White Knights' and castle guards' patrol schedule, but also by attacking and tying him up for Van's men to sneak in and take.
- Luke fon Fabre is replicated. The replica is sent back to the Fabre household and confined there.
- 'Asch', as he comes to be called, escapes from Van's confinement and makes it back to Fabre manor. Gailardia prevents him from entering, forcing him to watch how his friends and family have accepted the replica. Crushed, Asch agrees to return to Daath.
- Pere, claiming poor health, leaves the Fabre household, taking his 'nephew' with him. The pair returns to Daath, where Gailardia resumes his military training.
- Asch remains in Daath in a servant role to Van; he is kept confined to the cathedral unless he is accompanied outside. His life is mostly comfortable, thought Van turns a blind eye when Gailardia torments the younger boy.
- Gailardia is assigned to Special Ops.
- Van brings Riten with him to Yulia City, where he and Tear are formally introduced. Friendship blooms between the two children, who begin exchanging letters despite Van's disapproval.
- After a successful campaign in North Chesedonia, Van is promoted to Commandant of the Oracle Knights.
- Van begins gathering his personal commanders, who will later be called the 'God-Generals'; the first of these is Giselle Oslo, who takes the name Legretta the Quick.
- Birth of the seven Ion replicas; the current Ion's successor becomes friends with Asch. Sync the Tempest joins the God-Generals.
- Arietta is demoted as Fon Master Guardian and becomes Arietta the Wild; she finds a kind big brother figure in Gailardia.
- Upon turning eighteen, Gailardia takes the name Riten the Phoenix and joins Van's crusade against the Score as head of Special Operations. His past is erased from known records.
- In Yulia City, Tear is taught by Legretta, who follows the Oracle Military Academy's program. This training lasts around 6 months.
- Saphir Ortion Gneiss (Dist the Reaper) and Badaq Oakland (Largo the Black Lion) join the God-Generals.
- Tear goes to Daath to follow the practice class in the academy. She and Riten meet again for the first time in three years, and their friendship grows. They occasionally spar and share lunch.
- Tear discovers Van's plan and vows to stop him, putting a strain on her relationship with Riten.
- Tear is assigned to the Grand Maestro's First Intelligence Division.
- Tear accepts a mission from the Grand Maestro to find the Seventh Fonstone.
- Tear breaks into Fabre manor and attacks Van, resulting in her and Luke being transported to Tataroo Valley...
- Riten participates in the Tartarus attack to capture Ion.
- When the party escapes, the God-Generals try to trap them in St.Binah; that failing, they leave, though Riten elects to stay behind and see the town again.
- He and Tear meet one-on-one for the first time in a year, and she manages to convince him to leave the party alone for the time being.
- Arietta comes to him when her 'mother' is killed, and finds a sympathetic ear. Riten suggests Choral Castle to her as a good place to attack the party.
- He and Dist use Arietta's attack as an excuse to synchronize Luke and Asch's fon slots, enabling them to track the party from Daath, through Asch.
- Unexpectedly, Asch uses the connection to ask Luke to help Ion, kidnapped at the Zao ruins.
- Legretta ambushes the party at Deo Pass at Riten and Van's request, to try and convince Tear to leave. It doesn't work.
- Asch tries to warn Luke away from the Sephiroth, but to no avail; the replica Luke fon Fabre dies at Akzeriuth, according to Van's plan.
- Riten goes to meet the grieving Tear in Yulia City, only to be met with her anger and defiance. He leaves.
- Some time later, Asch breaks Natalia and Ion out of Daath and they manage to intercept Tear and Jade in Aramis Spring, not far from Daath. Cue awkward, and lots of explaining.
- Riten reappears in the Meggiora Highlands, to aid in the rescue of Ginji and the retrieval of the hover drive.
It's like Mushroom Road, only nerdier. - He tries to get Asch to return with him, but Asch refuses, and with the party backing him up, Riten concedes.
- Natalia is sentenced to death by Mohs for being a false heir to the throne; Asch reveals himself to his biological parents and the King to commute her sentence to exile.
- Riten travels to Yulia city for the signing of the peace conference, and nearly loses his temper, seeing a second Hod on the horizon. His bitterness and cynicism nearly gets the better of him, but Tear talks him down from attacking anyone. His presence there remains their secret. Riten notices that Tear seems unwell, and recommends that she see a doctor.
- Legretta and Riten confront the party at the Meggiora highlands after Tear's diagnosis, trying to convince her to come back with them. It doesn't work.
- Tear becomes worried that Van might be suffering from the same thing as she is, so she follows Riten to Ortion Cavern. However, she still refuses to join them. The party starts doubting Tear's loyalty because of her closeness with Riten.
- Riten is presumed dead in the Mt.Roneal avalanche, along with Largo, Arietta and Legretta. Being crushed under snow and the bodies of his comrades triggers his memory of the Hod disaster and his sister's death.
- Fast forward a month: as the group enters Daath to rescue Ion from Mohs, Riten and Legretta try to trap the party, but are stopped by Arietta, who sides with Asch, who appeals to her love for Ion. Legretta suggests they kill the rogue Arietta, but Riten points out that her monsters would overwhelm them, and they let her go.
- Ion dies in Asch's arms, healing Tear.
- At Feres Island, Jade mentions that in order to eradicate the miasma, you'd have to sacrifice about 10000 seventh fonists. Asch secretly asks the replicas to assemble at the Tower of Rem.
- Arietta dies after a duel with Anise. Riten and Largo bury her body on Feres Island.
- As the group prepares for the Daath summit, Riten breaks into Fabre manor; Asch finds him staring at the Jewel of Gardios in the main hall, and worries Riten might attack his parents. Instead, Riten tells him he once swore to murder his worst enemy with that sword, but Asch doesn't get the connection. Duke Fabre enters just as Riten leaves, and notices something familiar about the young man. Asch doesn't elucidate.
- Asch contemplates dying to get rid of the miasma, but remembers that there would be no hyperresonance left to free the trapped Lorelei if he did. He's torn.
- The group meets Riten again at the Tower of Rem, speaking with the replica of his sister. Tear is shocked, but no one else gets it. He finally reveals the tale of Hod's destruction, and his true identity. The group tries to get Riten to join them, but Riten refuses and leaves, leaving the Mary replica behind.
- At the summit, Asch exposes his plan: to sacrifice himself and the replicas to eradicate the miasma. He expresses his faith that his teammates will be able to take Van on without him. The group is crushed, but they don't have any other choice.
- At the Tower, Asch realizes that he really doesn't want to die, but his pride and resolve allow him to ignore Natalia's entreaties. He triggers a hyperresonance, but instead of vanishing, all of the his synchronized fon slots blow open and the fonons of his replica, absorbed after Akzeriuth fell, activate, causing a extremely powerful wave of energy that burns away the miasma. The replicas die, but Asch lives, thanks to 'Luke'.
- Bonus: the Jewel of Lorelei, intermingled with the fonons of his body, is ejected.
- Penalty: his fonic signature is now erratic, the replica fonons affected by the drain on his resources. He has a hard time casting fonic artes.
- The next day, as the group recoups in Baticul, Natalia finds out from Jade that Asch might not have much time left. She confronts him about it. Asch asks the Duke if he can take something, and the Duke gives it to him as a gift.
- In their final 24 hours, the group recollects; Asch renews his promise to Natalia, even if he knows he can't guarantee their safe return.
- At Eldrant, the group meets with Riten one last time. There, Asch gives him the package from Fabre Manor: the Jewel of Gardios, which once belonged to Zygmunt Gardios. Riten is confused, but hides it; he takes the sword, telling Asch that the next time they meet, he'll gut him with it.
- True to his word, Riten traps Asch to provoke him in a one-on-one duel, Gailardia Galan Gardios VS Luke fon Fabre. Asch accepts. Riten asks him why he'd arm his enemy with such a powerful blade, knowing Riten is the superior swordsman. Asch replies saying that he's grown, free from Van and the God-Generals' influence, but that Riten will stay trapped in his hatred and bitterness forever; the sword was a last peace offering, to see if they could put their pasts behind them. Riten scoffs and tells him they've gone past the point of no return. Asch says that he's sloughed off his fear of Riten; Riten declares he'll have to remind him. They cross blades.
- Asch is nearly overwhelmed by Riten, but Tear manages to find them and intervenes just as things get dire. In the end, she delivers the finishing blow.
- Mortally wounded, Riten is accompanied by Tear to the ruins of Gardios Manor, where he succumbs to his injuries. The Jewel of Gardios is impaled next to his corpse as a grave marker.
